Our buying verdict
The SB2001C-10 is worth comparing for a compact paved driveway when a single battery, folding handle and straightforward controls fit your routine. Its case is strongest for a manageable workload and genuine PWRCORE 40 compatibility. It is not a gravel machine, a powered-wheel-drive model or a guaranteed solution to dense plow banks. Compare the full 6Ah kit with alternatives and treat the manufacturer’s coverage and throw numbers as conditional examples.

Reasons to shortlist it
- The complete kit includes a 6Ah battery and identified 150W charger.
- Single-port battery setup is simple to understand and price.
- Rear crank direction control, LED headlight and folding handle are useful practical features.
- Model manual and parts list identify the scraper and rubber paddles.
Tradeoffs to consider
- The manual prohibits clearing gravel; this is a paved-route purchase.
- No powered wheel drive: the operator supplies forward movement.
- The listed 35.2-pound tool weight is not a confirmed ready-to-use kit weight.
- Existing 5Ah BY8708-00 packs need a model/date-code recall check before reuse.
Where this 20-inch snow blower makes sense
Start with this SKIL when you need to clear a compact paved driveway and connecting an extension cord would make the route awkward. The 20-inch single-stage format is a sensible category to compare for manageable recurring snow, especially if you already own approved SKIL PWRCORE 40 equipment. We would prioritize route layout and storage access over a voltage comparison with larger machines. The useful question is whether this package solves your usual winter task at a total cost you are comfortable with.
A small property is not automatically an easy snow-clearing job. If the street plow repeatedly leaves a dense bank across the driveway entrance, assess that bottleneck separately from the light snow in the middle. This review does not establish the machine’s performance in your particular wet snow or ice. Read our small-driveway buying guide for the broader shortlist, and move to the heavy-snow guide when demanding deposits are the main concern.

The kit, tool-only version and battery platform
The manufacturer’s selected SB2001C-10 configuration includes the SB2001C-00 machine, one BY8723C-00 40V 6Ah battery and one SC5364-00 150W Auto PWRJUMP charger. The same product page also offers a machine-only configuration. That shared page can create confusion: a lower displayed price may simply reflect SB2001C-00 being selected, not a sale on the complete kit. Read the selected configuration and included-items list together.
The snow blower has one battery port. There is no second installed pack automatically waiting to extend the clearing session. A spare is a separate budget and charging decision. PWRCORE 40 and PWRCORE 20 are different systems; neither an SKIL 20V drill battery nor another brand’s nominally 40V battery qualifies just because the brand or voltage sounds similar. The manual names approved pack and charger models, which is the better reference than a generic marketplace compatibility statement.
Clearing design and the limits of advertised coverage
SKIL documents a brushless motor, rubber-tipped steel-frame auger, 20-inch clearing path and 10.5-inch intake. This is a single-stage design: do not read the steel-frame description as a two-stage mechanism or assume rubber paddles imply powered wheel drive. The operator supplies forward travel. A buyer who specifically needs wheel-driven assistance should compare that requirement against a different machine class rather than hoping the battery motor handles both jobs.
The manufacturer’s advertised example is a six-car driveway covered with up to six inches of snow using the 6Ah pack, with a maximum throw up to 30 feet. We have not replicated either. Car-count examples from different brands are not standardized performance comparisons, and intake height is not a promise to clear a full-depth wall of compacted snow in one pass. Wind, density, overlap and recharge interruptions all matter. We would not translate these claims into a guaranteed runtime or a star score for wet-snow performance.

Compare the exact offer
Match the exact kit, included battery and charger models, condition and seller. Amazon showed an offer sold and shipped by Amazon.com when checked October 7, 2026. Offers and availability can change.
Handling, chute adjustment and storage space
The rear crank changes chute direction through a stated 180-degree range. The upper deflector adjusts the discharge angle, and the LED headlight supports visibility ahead of the machine. These are practical conveniences for a route with changing discharge locations. They do not solve a driveway with nowhere safe to put the snow. Plan the discharge area before focusing on maximum distance, and keep other people, cars and windows out of the path.
SKIL lists assembled dimensions of 46 inches long, 22 inches wide and 40 inches high, plus a folding steel handle. Notice the difference between the 20-inch clearing path and 22-inch overall published width. Leave handling clearance at doors and turns. The product page lists tool weight at 35.2 pounds, but does not establish that as a battery-installed carry weight. Meanwhile the Amazon summary shows much smaller dimensions and an incorrect two-cycle engine field. Use the manufacturer’s dimensions for planning and treat those retail summary fields as unreliable for this cordless electric model.
SB2001C-10 versus SB2001C-00: compare equal packages
Machine + BY8723C-00 6Ah battery + SC5364-00 150W charger.
Budget for approved battery and charging equipment unless already owned.
PWRCORE 20 is a different system; an older 5Ah pack needs the official recall check.
Surface safety, wear parts and the older-battery recall
The manual expressly prohibits gravel clearing. A separate general warning about crossing gravel does not cancel that restriction. This is a paved-route choice, and its listed weather resistance is not permission to immerse the tool, battery or charger. Follow the model’s operating, charging and storage conditions. For a blocked chute, the manual calls for shutdown, battery removal, waiting for the auger to stop and using a clean-out tool—never a hand. The owner still has responsibility for visibility, footing and a clear working area.
Cordless does not mean maintenance-free. SKIL identifies the SSS2000 scraper bar and SRP2000 rubber paddles as recommended accessories, and provides inspection and replacement guidance. There is also a separate buying check for existing batteries: SKIL’s recall page names certain 40V 5Ah BY8708-00 packs by date code. The reviewed kit instead includes a 6Ah BY8723C-00 pack. Do not claim every 40V battery is recalled or that every older 5Ah pack is safe; use the official SKIL recall lookup ↗ before reusing one, and follow the stop-use instructions for affected packs.
Warranty, shopping status and competing choices
At the October 7, 2026 check, the exact Amazon SB2001C-10 page had an offer sold and shipped by Amazon.com and identified the 6Ah battery-and-charger kit. We avoid freezing a promotional price into the recommendation because price, seller and availability change. Check the exact model, current seller and included components again before checkout. SKIL’s current warranty page lists three years for consumer outdoor equipment, optionally five with registration within 30 days, and two years for batteries and chargers; professional-use coverage differs. Retain the receipt and read the actual eligibility terms.
Compare the DEWALT DCSNP2142Y2 if FLEXVOLT ownership and electronic chute rotation appeal to you. The EGO SNT2125AP adds an auger-assistance design worth understanding, while the Westinghouse WSnow22 shifts the cost calculation toward outlet access instead of batteries. If demanding recurring snow requires powered wheels and a two-stage system, the RYOBI RY408150 is a different class to investigate. Choose the machine around the task, then the platform—not the other way around.
8 frequently asked questions
What comes with the SKIL SB2001C-10?
The kit includes the SB2001C-00 machine, one 40V 6Ah BY8723C-00 battery and one SC5364-00 150W charger. Confirm SB2001C-10 is selected; SB2001C-00 is the machine-only configuration.
Is the SB2001C-10 self-propelled?
It has no powered wheel-drive system. The motor drives the single-stage auger, while the operator supplies forward movement. Do not confuse battery-powered clearing with powered travel.
Can it use a SKIL 20V battery?
No. It uses the approved SKIL PWRCORE 40 system. PWRCORE 20 is a different platform. Follow the manual’s named battery and charger models, not a same-brand assumption or generic adapter claim.
Is this kit affected by the SKIL battery recall?
The reviewed kit contains a 6Ah BY8723C-00 battery. The official recall page names certain 5Ah BY8708-00 packs by date code. If you plan to reuse an older 5Ah battery, check the official page and stop using any affected pack.
Can the SKIL snow blower clear a gravel driveway?
No. The manual explicitly prohibits use on gravel. A general warning about crossing gravel does not make gravel snow-clearing an approved application. Choose around the exact surface restriction.
How much room does it need in storage?
SKIL lists assembled dimensions of 46 inches long, 22 inches wide and 40 inches high. The handle folds, but measure the actual folded footprint, door clearance and turning room. The clearing path alone is not overall width.
Will one charge clear my whole driveway?
That is not guaranteed. SKIL’s example uses a 6Ah pack and a six-car driveway with up to six inches of snow. Your snow density, route, overlap, battery condition and conditions may differ. Plan for interruption rather than relying on a fixed runtime.
What warranty does SKIL currently list?
For consumer outdoor equipment, SKIL lists three years, optionally five with registration within 30 days. Batteries and chargers are listed at two years. Seller eligibility, proof of purchase, professional use and other terms matter; read the current warranty page.
Should you buy it?
Choose SB2001C-10 for a compact paved route when the complete 6Ah kit and PWRCORE 40 platform suit your budget and storage. Its straightforward setup is attractive, but the gravel restriction, push travel and conditional coverage claims should be part of the decision. Price the complete kit and any truly needed spare capacity before comparing it with larger or corded alternatives.
