EGO 650 vs 765 CFM: Which Leaf Blower Should You Buy?

Leaf blower buying guide · U.S. kits · October 3, 2026

The EGO 650 vs 765 CFM decision comes down to more than the number on the blower. The LB6504 and LB7654 both include a 5.0Ah battery, but the 765 kit adds more maximum airflow and a faster charger. Whether those upgrades are worth paying for depends on the price gap and your cleanup routine.

See how the EGO LB6504 and LB7654 kits compare on airflow, battery runtime, and charging. This is a research-based comparison, not a hands-on test.

How we compared them: This is a research-based comparison of EGO specifications, operator manuals, and the named kit contents. We have not personally tested these two blowers side by side. Recommendations below are our buying judgment, not measured clearing results.

The quick verdict

Choose the LB7654 when prices are close and you want the higher advertised airflow or shorter recharge time. Choose the LB6504 when it offers meaningful savings and your main jobs are routine driveway, patio, and light leaf cleanup. Already own a suitable EGO battery and charger? What changes when you choose the 765?

≈18%more advertised maximum airflow
5.0Ahthe same included battery capacity
30 minless listed recharge time

The airflow increase is 115 CFM: 765 minus 650. That is approximately 18% more air volume per minute at the advertised maximum. It does not establish 18% faster cleanup. Leaves, moisture, surface, nozzle choice, and technique all affect the work you finish.

Manufacturer figures, not our test results. Kit configurations: EGO 650 CFM and EGO 765 CFM. Runtime and charging sources appear below.

Airflow: match the blower to the job

CFM measures air volume. It is useful when comparing blowers, but it cannot tell you exactly how a pile of damp leaves will move. More available airflow is a reason to consider the 765 for demanding leaf cleanup; it is not a guarantee that every task will feel dramatically different.

For grass clippings on a driveway or dry debris on a patio, we would put more weight on price, control, and how the blower feels with its battery installed. For recurring heavier leaf work, the 765’s higher output gives you a stronger reason to pay the premium. These are buying judgments from the specifications, not claims from a field test.

Runtime: both list about 15 minutes on boost

The “up to 90 minutes” headline on EGO’s product pages is an average-runtime claim, not a promise of 90 minutes at maximum output. The operator manuals give more useful estimates for planning a demanding cleanup session.

EGO’s approximate runtime with a 56V 5.0Ah battery
Setting LB6500 / LB6504 LB7650 / LB7654
Low 200 minutes 150 minutes
High 30 minutes 25 minutes
Boost 15 minutes 15 minutes

Sources: LB6500 manual, page 11 (PDF) and LB7650 manual, page 10 (PDF). Settings on different blowers do not necessarily produce the same airflow. This table does not compare energy efficiency or equal amounts of completed work.

If you regularly need long bursts of maximum output, plan around the boost estimates. Lower settings can stretch a charge, but your battery’s condition, temperature, and working pattern affect actual runtime. A spare battery can help with longer sessions; it does not make the included charger fast enough to keep up indefinitely with continuous boost use.

Charging: the practical advantage of the LB7654 kit

The bundled charger is an easy difference to overlook. EGO lists about 100 minutes for a depleted 5.0Ah pack on the CH2100, versus about 70 minutes on the CH3200. That is roughly 30 minutes less waiting.

Approximate recharge time for a depleted 5.0Ah battery
LB6504 · CH2100100 min
LB7654 · CH320070 min

Manufacturer estimates: CH2100 and CH3200. Shorter bars mean less charging time.

A faster charger reduces downtime between charges; it does not extend runtime on one charge. Its value is also smaller if you already own a suitable faster EGO charger or normally recharge after finishing the job.

Already own EGO batteries? Compare the bare tools

Both blowers use EGO’s 56V ARC Lithium battery platform. If you already have a compatible pack and charger, compare the LB6500 and LB7650 tool-only prices with the complete kits. The LB6504 and LB7654 each add one 5.0Ah pack; the similarly named LB7654-2 is a different, two-battery package.

Look at the total purchase: blower, usable battery capacity, charger, and any spare you actually need. A kit discount can still be worthwhile for an existing owner, but buying another battery only helps if it fits your workload and budget.

Handling and warranty deserve a quick check

If possible, hold each blower with the battery you plan to use. Check grip, balance, access to the controls, and where it will live between jobs. A bare tool without a battery will not tell you how the working setup feels.

For qualifying standard consumer purchases, EGO’s limited warranty is five years on these tools and three years on the battery and charger. Authorized-retailer, original-purchaser, and other conditions apply; professional-use terms differ. Check the current EGO warranty policy and the seller before buying.

Which one would we choose?

Choose the LB6504 if it saves enough money to matter and your routine work does not give you a strong reason to pay for extra output or faster charging.

Choose the LB7654 if the prices are close, heavier leaf cleanup is common, or shorter recharge breaks are valuable to you.

Keep your current blower if it already handles the job well. An extra 115 advertised CFM alone is not a compelling reason to replace working equipment.

Our default preference at a small price difference is the LB7654 because its two clear upgrades are useful. At a larger discount, the LB6504 becomes easier to justify. Compare today’s complete-kit offers before deciding.

Frequently asked questions

Is the EGO 765 worth more than the 650?

It can be when the price gap is small or its higher maximum airflow and faster included charger suit your routine. A substantial discount can make the 650 kit the better value. Neither is a universal winner.

Are LB6504 and LB6500 the same blower?

LB6500 identifies the blower body and bare-tool configuration. LB6504 is the kit with that blower, one 5.0Ah battery, and a standard charger. Compare the complete contents of the listing you select.

What is the difference between LB7650 and LB7654?

LB7650 is the blower body and bare-tool configuration. LB7654 includes that blower, one 5.0Ah battery, and the CH3200 charger. Do not confuse it with the LB7654-2 two-battery package.

Does either blower run for 90 minutes on turbo?

No. EGO’s operator manuals list approximately 15 minutes in boost with a 5.0Ah battery for each model. The 90-minute marketing figure describes average runtime, not continuous maximum output.

Can they share the same battery?

Yes. Both use EGO 56V ARC Lithium batteries. Battery capacity and condition affect your working session, so compare your existing pack with the kit’s 5.0Ah pack when deciding whether to buy a bare tool.

Will 765 CFM clear leaves 18% faster?

That conclusion does not follow from the specifications. The advertised maximum air volume is about 18% higher, but a cleanup-time comparison would require controlled testing.

Should I upgrade a working EGO 650 to the 765?

Only if you can identify a useful improvement for your actual work. If your 650 already handles cleanup comfortably, keeping it is reasonable. Existing batteries and chargers also change the cost of upgrading.
