Our buying verdict
The Power Max e24 is worth shortlisting when you need a two-stage machine and powered travel, particularly for more demanding driveway clearing. Its tradeoffs are the size, handling commitment and cost of the full battery system. The current Toro page identifies a two-6.0Ah kit; older documentation describes a different supplied battery pair, so verify the actual package rather than shopping by model number alone.

Reasons to shortlist it
- Two-stage format and powered wheels address a different workload from compact single-stage machines.
- Quick Stick controls chute direction and deflector position together.
- Model- and serial-specific manuals and a dealer network help with ownership planning.
Tradeoffs to consider
- Storage, turning space and handling are significant considerations.
- Older and current battery packages must be compared carefully.
- More battery capacity adds expense and does not turn a marketing clearing example into a guarantee.
Why move up to this machine class?
A two-stage snowblower separates gathering snow from throwing it: the auger feeds an impeller that sends snow through the chute. On the e24, powered wheels also move the machine. Those are useful distinctions when a compact snowblower requires too much repeated pushing and handling, but they do not eliminate the operator’s work. You still steer, manage footing and choose an appropriate travel speed.
We would start the buying decision at the driveway entrance. If the recurring difficulty is dense material left by the road plow, a two-stage shortlist deserves serious attention. If your main task is a short paved walkway after modest snowfalls, the extra machine may bring more storage and maneuvering burden than benefit. The 24-inch width by itself does not settle that question.
Also consider your clearing schedule. Someone who can return for manageable passes during a storm has a different workload from someone who arrives home to accumulated snow. Choose for that realistic schedule, the surface and the snow storage space. Avoid a purchase that only makes sense if you can always be outside at the ideal moment.
Two stages, plus a separate travel system
Feeds material inward from the intake.
Discharge still depends on conditions.
Powered forward and reverse travel.
Powered travel, chute control and the driveway layout
Toro lists six forward speeds and two reverse speeds. The important ownership benefit is having powered travel in both directions, rather than relying on the auger to pull the machine along. The useful speed is the one that lets the clearing system process the snow without being forced. A high speed setting is not a target when the intake is under load.
Quick Stick combines chute-direction and deflector adjustment in one control. That matters when you alternate passes, work around vehicles or need to aim into a particular snow storage area. Imagine the whole route, including turns and the return to the garage. If you can visit a dealer, try reaching the controls while wearing winter gloves and ask for a demonstration of starting, stopping and changing travel direction.
Do not equate powered travel with easy lifting or tight-space maneuverability. A full-size machine still needs room to turn and a suitable path into storage. Measure doorways and the space beside parked vehicles, and make sure the people who will use it are comfortable controlling it. A dealer’s assembled-machine demonstration is more useful here than another headline performance number.
The 39924 battery bundle needs careful checking
Toro’s current product page lists two 6.0Ah batteries and two chargers. An older 39924 operator’s manual identifies two model 88675 batteries as supplied equipment. That is why we would ask the seller to state battery model numbers, amp-hour ratings and charger contents in writing. An older package is not automatically a bad purchase, but it is a different value comparison.
The third battery position provides an expansion option; it does not mean a third battery is included. Price the exact package first, then decide whether an additional approved pack is necessary. Buying spare capacity before understanding your route can add cost without resolving an underlying machine-fit problem. Conversely, a demanding property may justify budgeting for more than the included pair from the outset.
Battery-platform ownership helps only when your existing packs are suitable for this workload and available when needed. A collection of small packs used for handheld tools should not be treated as equivalent to the advertised snowblower setup. Have the dealer confirm compatibility, useful capacity and charger arrangements. Toro’s serial-number parts and manual selector is the place to identify the correct instructions for the machine you receive.

Ask the dealer to itemize batteries, chargers, assembly and delivery. Confirm the model and serial-specific package before comparing the quote.
What the clearing claims can—and cannot—tell you
Toro’s page uses more than one driveway-size description: its main copy and specification table do not use the same car-space figure. We would not convert either into a guaranteed driveway capacity. For a buyer, the more practical approach is to describe the area, normal snow depth, wet-snow frequency and plow berm to the dealer, then agree on a suitable package and contingency plan.
The published intake height describes the opening, not a promise that an equally deep layer of dense snow will clear effortlessly in one pass. Maximum throwing distance also depends on conditions. Wind, moisture and repeatedly throwing already-moved snow can change how the job feels. Leave room for slower progress in the demanding parts rather than calculating finish time from clearing width alone.
Toro’s Anti-Clogging System is intended to manage snow flow, but it is not a guarantee against blockages. If a blockage occurs, follow the shutdown procedure, remove the key and batteries, and use a cleanout tool rather than a hand. The machine’s performance claims are manufacturer statements; this review does not supply an independently measured throughput or runtime result.

Gravel, service and the space you will need
Toro lists paved and gravel surfaces, and the manual describes adjusting the collector height for gravel or crushed rock. That setup is a meaningful difference from simply pushing a pavement-oriented machine onto a loose surface. Read the manual matched to the serial number and have a dealer explain the skid and scraper adjustment if needed. Surface suitability still depends on setup and conditions.
For storage, think beyond the parking rectangle. You need access to controls, a route in and out, and a place where melting snow will not create another problem. Toro publishes a 172-pound weight; confirm what that figure includes before planning transport. Delivery and assembly may be worth considering if moving a boxed machine is inconvenient.
The electric power source removes fuel-system chores, but you still own a mechanical snowblower. Include inspection of the scraper, skids, belts, fasteners and controls in the maintenance plan, following the manual. Ask who services the machine locally and what happens if a part is needed during winter. The value of a nearby service route is difficult to capture in a headline price.
The alternatives worth comparing
For a same-class battery alternative, read our EGO SNT2416 review and compare complete kits, storage requirements and service access. For a smaller paved route, the EGO SNT2125AP offers a different balance of compactness and auger assistance. The Toro Power Clear e21 is another useful comparison if you want to remain within Toro’s battery platform.
We have not verified an exact Amazon machine offer for the 39924. Use Toro’s dealer locator or the retailers linked from its product page, then compare the full delivered package. The best offer may depend on assembly, local support and battery contents as much as the displayed machine price. An unrelated Amazon accessory listing would not be a useful substitute.
8 frequently asked questions
Is the Toro Power Max e24 39924 self-propelled?
Yes. Toro lists six forward and two reverse speeds. This is a powered wheel-drive machine, which is different from the ground-contact auger assistance found on some single-stage models. You still need to steer it and maintain secure footing.
Does model 39924 include 6.0Ah or 7.5Ah batteries?
The current Toro product page specifies two 6.0Ah batteries. Older model documentation identifies two 88675 batteries as supplied equipment. Check the actual seller package and serial-specific documentation before comparing prices. Do not assume every offer carrying 39924 has identical contents.
Do I have to buy a third battery?
A third battery is an optional capacity expansion, not part of the currently listed two-battery package. First assess the included setup against your workload. Ask the dealer to confirm suitable batteries and operating requirements before spending on additional packs.
Can the e24 clear a gravel driveway?
Toro lists gravel use and provides collector-height guidance. Correct skid and scraper setup matters so the machine is not simply gathering loose stone. Use the instructions for your serial number and ask a dealer to demonstrate the adjustment if you are unfamiliar with it.
Is the 20-inch intake a guaranteed snow-depth rating?
No. It is an opening dimension. Dense, wet, compacted or refrozen snow creates a different load from lighter snow at the same depth. Choose a pace and clearing approach consistent with the manual and conditions; do not treat intake height as a guaranteed one-pass performance result.
Will the Anti-Clogging System prevent every blockage?
No. It is a snow-flow design feature, not a guarantee. For a blockage, shut down and isolate the power as the manual directs, then use a cleanout tool. Never put a hand into the auger or chute.
How should I compare it with the EGO SNT2416?
Compare full battery and charger packages, travel controls, storage room, local service and your existing usable batteries. Both belong in a two-stage buying discussion, but we have not run a controlled side-by-side test and do not assign a measured performance winner.
Where should I buy the 39924?
Start with Toro’s authorized-dealer locator and the retailers linked on its current product page. Ask about the exact kit, delivery, assembly and service. We did not verify an exact Amazon snowblower offer, so this review uses a direct manufacturer/dealer route instead of an Amazon machine button.
Should you buy it?
Choose the Power Max e24 when its two-stage clearing and powered travel solve the recurring difficulty on your property. Confirm the battery package and local service before committing. If a smaller machine already fits your surface and snowfall, the e24’s additional size and ownership cost may be unnecessary.
