Five things to check before buying for wet snow
1. The hardest part of the route
Walk the route and identify the driveway entrance, shaded patches, slopes and places where cars pack the snow down. A machine that handles the open middle of the driveway still has to cope with those bottlenecks. If a frozen plow ridge is the real problem, do not judge the purchase only by driveway length.
2. Powered travel and turning room
Self-propulsion can help move the machine, but it does not eliminate steering or maneuvering. Measure the space around parked cars and where you reverse direction. A large machine may be appropriate for the snow yet awkward in the available space.
3. Battery capacity and a charging plan
